How to Make Homemade Cranberry Sauce
If you’re like me and want to prepare some side dishes ahead of time you can easily make this homemade cranberry sauce in advance. If you’re making your cranberry sauce ahead of time, be sure to place it in an airtight container in your refrigerator within two hours of making it. You can then keep your cranberry sauce in the fridge for a week without worrying it will go bad.
The primary sweetener in this cranberry relish is the addition of other friut! The apples and orange flavors balance the tartness of the cranberries. But also add honey to sweeten to your preference.
How Does it Compare to Canned Cranberry Sauce
This is a battle that will go on in my family forever. Canned cranberry sauce has always seemed a little like a joke to me but my parents and my husband LOVE it! Personally, I don’t get it. LOL!
This version is more like relish than jelly. And tastes more like real fruit than sugar. I am team Homemade Cranberry Sauce all the way! (I’m biased, can you tell?)
If you are looking for fresh cranberries, they are in the fresh produce aisle most of the fall and winter. I personally love to check Costco or Sams because you can get gigantic bags of cranberries for cheap!
