Old fashioned tea cakes


My Nanny’s  Old Fashioned Tea Cakes are part of every food memory from my childhood. Like sweet biscuits, they are a little like cake, and a little like cookies.


Self Rising Flour Eggs Granulated Sugar Butter Milk Vanilla Extract

Mix Ingredients

Sift flour into a large bowl. In a second bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla until everything is smooth. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir just until combined.

Roll Dough

Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface or lightly flour your hands and pinch off a piece of dough. 

Bake Tea Cakes

Roll into biscuit, and drop on baking sheet, patting it down gently with your fingertips. Bake at 400f for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve with Tea. Enjoy!
